I have had my homeowners, car, and valuable personal property insurance policies with them, as well as many financial accounts (checking, credit card, CDs) for over 20 years.     The reason I am fairly rating USAA (based in San Antonio) only one star is because there was not an option to rate them no stars. My wife and I have been members(in Good standing" with USAA for 30 years now much to our dismay.   • Remember when USAA was a good insurance company

    I remember when USAA was a preferred company. It is sad what has happened to them. I have carried insuarnce with them for years. During the last year, we have had several issues (pipe breaks, etc) where we called the insurance company to see if our policy would cover the problem. In each case, it did not or the repair cost would be less than the deductible.  more...

  • Thanks for nothing!

    Had a summer storm, lighting, thunder, rain, etc. Had lighting hit the house or a tree in my yard, blew the terminals out of the A/C unit, tripped breakers, fried a computer, and damaged a pinetree. Filed a claim. The offered to pay to cut down the tree and even replace the computer, but as to the A/C unit they would not replace becuase they could not confirm that the lighting caused the damaged.  more...

  • Lack of Integrity

    My home is insured by USAA. We have hail damage from several storms and have filed claims with no luck. Five of neighbors have had their roofs replaced by other insurers due to hail damage. We've had three adjusters come out to look at our roof and gotten three different opinions. The first said that there was damage, but it wouldn't show in pictures.  more...

    When I first Joined USAA around 1995 (You join because it is an association) they were the premier insurance company in the nation for price and customer service. You couldn't beat them on any product. Fast forward to the present however, and USAA is on a downward spiral.     Had a major storm here in Florida during the rainy season and as everyone knows it can get pretty bad here, and my roof began to leak so bad that the ceiling inside was coming down in one room. while they got a adjuster out to look at it in a timely manner they decided the roof was leaking from normal wear.  more...

  • Caught In A Lie

    We have been insured through USAA for almost 28 years. Premiums have been paid on time, we have had only ONE small, minor claim in the period of coverage, we have been good clients.
    However, the past four years, additions have been made to our policy that we did not approve; trying to get these removed has been impossible and the premium continued to go up.  more...

  • The only thing that exceeds its employees incompetence is their rudeness

    USAA is simply out to make money, not to look out for the military families it insures and it does so very poorly. I own houses in the inner city. Often the replacement value for such homes is many times their value. While other insurance companies offer market value coverage, USAA told me that it only offers replacement cost.  more...
